Come see what a small classroom size and a state-certified teacher can do to supercharge your child's education.
The best of all worlds
Character matters. At Roots and Wings, each child is expected to have integrity, work hard, show grit and determination as they improve themselves.Every day is an adventure with curated teaching tools, from the ancient wisdom to the most modern technology. The little red schoolhouse you see in the background was produced using AI. Before AI was a thing.
Who runs this place, anyway?
While raising my six children, I taught vocal and piano lessons to the neighborhood kids. Once my youngest "flew the coop," I completed my degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude, a fancy way of saying that I know how to get good grades.😊If teaching hundreds of kids over the years qualifies, then I am a "veteran teacher."When I am not teaching or speaking to school boards to protect our most precious treasure, I am most likely learning myself.

Background
What is Roots and Wings Microschool? The school is nestled right in my home in North Mesa, creating a comfortable, welcoming place for children to learn. With a certified teacher who understands state standards and intentionally small class sizes, each child gets the focused support they need to reach their personal goals.Parents stay closely connected through frequent updates about how their child is growing and progressing.Because we work with only a limited number of students, every child receives an education that is truly tailored to them.Is this primarily computer-based learning?Kids learn in many ways—through talking together, reading, writing, exploring history, practicing spelling, and doing hands‑on science.Quality AI learning programs add another valuable layer by showing where a student is now, helping them stretch further, and giving clear updates on their progress. These tools take about 25% of the school day. This mix helps them build real computer skills without opening the door to gaming at school. How much does it cost?Tuition is fully covered through the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA), making the program accessible without additional out‑of‑pocket costs.Families may also use ESA funds to purchase their child’s device, which they maintain at home.RAWM provides the educational software each student needs, along with high‑speed internet access during the school day. All classroom supplies and the cost of field trip admissions are also provided, ensuring students can participate fully in every learning experience. How does tuition work?Once your child is accepted, RAWM will send an invoice directly to your email. In ClassWallet, you’ll simply select RAWM as your school.Tuition is $1,375 per quarter, paid in advance, and any partial quarter is prorated so you only pay for the time your child attends. What kind of laptop/software do I need?Students only need a device with a keyboard and the ability to use a web browser. RAWM provides the software licenses for each child for the entire year, which helps us tailor learning to each student’s needs.
Internet access is provided at school and protected by a firewall. While we do not add additional site‑filtering on our end, families are welcome to install filtering software on their child’s device if they prefer an extra layer of protection.I don’t need to go bankrupt buying school supplies? All school supplies are provided by RAWM, so families don’t need to purchase anything extra. And yes—students still use paper and pencil for their writing, giving them plenty of practice with traditional skills alongside their other learning. How do field trips work?
Field trips are planned several times throughout the year, giving students a chance to explore and learn beyond the classroom.RAWM covers all entry fees so every child can participate fully. Families are responsible for transportation, and carpooling is encouraged since RAWM does not provide transport. To keep outings safe and enjoyable, we ask that at least one adult attend for every four children—though more are always welcome to join in the fun. What is the schedule?Monday through Thursday7:45AM-2:45PMIs there a referral program?
Yes. Please talk with me for details.
